Day 1: Fez to Merzouga
Embark on an early departure from Fez, commencing your ascent towards the Sahara Desert. Passing through Ifrane, a charming winter ski resort reminiscent of a Swiss village, we’ll journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains. En route, explore the Cedar Forest in Azrou, home to playful monkeys. As we wind through picturesque landscapes of forests, springs, and Berber villages, we’ll pause for lunch in Midelt, renowned for its fossils and rocks. Continuing towards Merzouga, marvel at panoramic views of palm tree oases. Arriving in the afternoon, indulge in dinner with Saharan music and spend the night in a traditional Kasbah.
Day 2: Merzouga to Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, venture deeper into the Sahara Desert, pausing for panoramic views of palm tree oases and a visit to Rissani, the first capital of the Alaouite Dynasty. Enjoy a lunch featuring local Berber delicacies like “Medfouna” Berber pizza. Then, embark on a camel trek across the sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi, witnessing a stunning sunset en route to the desert camp. Relax with mint tea upon arrival, followed by a delightful dinner under the starlit sky. Spend the night in a cozy Berber tent, immersed in the tranquility of the desert.
Day 3: Merzouga to Fez
Wake up early to catch the mesmerizing sunrise over the sand dunes near the Algerian border. After breakfast, return to the hotel via camel ride for shower and breakfast. Depart for Fez, passing through Rissani and the scenic Ziz Valley. Stop for a walk and lunch in a Berber village, before continuing through mountainous terrain and cedar forests. Arrive in Fez, concluding your memorable desert adventure.
